  • Quebec 2018 – INS Québec appeals to political parties about their intentions regarding high-performance sport

Montreal, July 25, 2018 – In anticipation of the October general election in Quebec, Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) is asking Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ), the Parti Libéral du Québec (PLQ), the Parti Québécois (PQ) and Québec Solidaire (QS) to make their intentions known regarding sport development, especially for high performance sport. INS Québec recently sent them a summary of the high-performance sport community’s expectations in a document entitled, “Pour un Québec performant” (“A better performing Quebec”). The Institut took this opportunity to call for a meeting with the political parties in addition to inviting them to take turns presenting their intentions to members of the high-performance sport community.   • Election of Francine Champoux, Jean Dupré and Marie Pinsonneault to the Board of Directors of INS Québec

Montreal, June 28, 2018 – The annual general assembly of the Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) held on June 27, 2018, marked the election of Francine Champoux, Jean Dupré and Marie Pinsonneault who join the Board of Directors replacing Alain Côté and Julie Moreau. Directors Lynn Blouin and Bernard Petiot were re-elected for a second term. The Board of Directors is thereby composed of Guy Létourneau (Vice-chair), Ariane Loignon, Tom Quinn (Chair), François Racine (Secretary-treasurer), Claude Rousseau and Carole Théberge.

“We welcome with great enthusiasm the election of Francine, Jean and Marie to the Board of Directors” says Tom Quinn, President of the Board. “Their commitment in the business world, their common leadership and their know-how in partnership development and human resources management are considerable assets for the Board.   • INS Québec annual general meeting: rapidly growing services across Quebec

Montreal, June 27, 2018 – Today, Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) held its annual general meeting during which Tom Quinn, President of the Board of Directors, and Gaëtan Robitaille, President and Chief Executive Officer, took stock of the achievements for 2017-18.

“2017-18 allowed us to assess all of the work accomplished by the Institut’s team during the recent winter Olympic and Paralympic cycle,” Mr. Quinn points out. “Thanks to the steadfast support of the Gouvernement du Québec, we continue to develop our services across Quebec and our increased activities has led us to implement new partnerships,” he explains. “Our network of partners also plays a crucial role in shaping our service offering. Montreal, June 4, 2018 – Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) would like to express its support to the victims of Bertrand Charest and deplores the serious impact of all forms of violence on athletes and the entire sport community. This situation is intolerable and cannot be justified in any way.

We would like to acknowledge the courage of Geneviève Simard, Gail Kelly, Anna Prchal and Amélie-Frédérique Gagnon and all of the athletes who are looking toward the future and asking that changes be made to the sport.   • INS Québec pursues the roll out of its strategic plan with the appointment of Renée Larouche as Director, business partnership development and fundraising

Montreal, May 16, 2018 — With a view to adding flexibility to the services provided to athletes and coaches, the President and CEO of Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec), Gaëtan Robitaille, enthusiastically welcomes Ms. Renée Larouche as Director, Business Partnership Development and Fundraising. Ms. Larouche will develop and implement strategies and programs aimed at the Institut’s business partners and donors. She will begin her new role on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

 “Renée’s experience and expertise will be a major asset for INS Québec,” explains Gaëtan Robitaille. “We were looking for a candidate whose profile would allow the Institut to implement a solid business partnership development and fundraising strategy to increase our independent revenues. We wanted to make sure that we could not only continue rolling out as many high-quality services as possible, but also guarantee maximum flexibility in the operations of the Institut’s Complex.” Read more.

  • INS Québec launches its mentorship support program for high-performance coaches

Montreal, May 2, 2018 – Quebec’s sports federations will be able to receive support from Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) to implement development activities through mentoring. Thanks to the Government of Quebec’s $50,000 investment, the pilot project will allow coaches from five different sports to participate in the support program over the next year. This program is coordinated by INS Québec and is aimed at fostering the professional development of coaches who are in the process of or likely to hold head coach positions on national teams.

According to Marc Schryburt, Vice-President, Performance at INS Québec, “These mentorship activities are designed to drive coaches who are about to ascend to positions on national teams,” he explains. “By fostering the transfer of knowledge between mentors and mentorees, we also ensure that the next generation of head coaches are highly qualified.” »  Read more.

  • INS Québec network supports Quebec athletes participating in Paralympic Games

Montreal, March 5, 2018—With the XII Paralympic Winter Games opening in a few days, the Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) is proud to have supported five Quebec paralympic athletes. They will join two other Quebec athletes from the Canadian delegation in PyeongChang.

In collaboration with its network of regional multi-sport training centres, INS Québec has been able to offer local sports medicine, sports science and overall wellness services to athletes throughout this last paralympic cycle. Read more.

Montreal, January 15, 2018 – At the Olympic and Paralympic Games, differences that are often minimal separate medallists from other competitors. Thanks to the expertise and experience of its experts, the Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) provides high-performance athletes training in Quebec and their coaches with access to the latest scientific and technological advances, high-quality medical and sports services as well as professional and personal training services. The goal is simple: consider all determiners of athlete performance in the preparation for major Games.

Many of our experts are available during the Games to collaborate with the media who would like to feature, in their Olympic coverage, topics related to one of the four types of services offered by INS Québec: sports sciences (physiology, physical and mental preparation, biomechanics, etc.), sports‑medicine (physiotherapy, nutrition, etc.), coach training or personal development (career transition, budget planning, etc.).   • Twelve Quebec sport federations benefit from Quebec government investments in the INS Québec network

Montreal, December 12, 2017 – The Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) is pleased with the projects undertaken by the twelve Quebec sport federations in their single-sport training centres to support the development of high-performance athletes and the improvement of their facilities. Thanks to the Quebec government’s investment in the INS Québec network as a whole and to the 25% increase in the funds dedicated to supporting single-sport training centres, the Quebec sport federations have completed 16 projects during 2017-2018.   • The INS Québec expands its medical, scientific and innovation research activities and welcomes two new experts in its performance service

Montreal, November 27, 2017 – The vice-president, Performance services of the Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec), Marc Schryburt, is pleased to announce two new appointments in its team. These appointments are due to an increase in medical, scientific and innovation research activities that enable the INS Québec to provide coaching to high-performance athletes and coaches on a par with the best practices in the world.   • The business community reaffirms its commitment to the Institut national du sport du Québec with a $130,000 contribution

Montreal, November 16, 2017 – The business community reaffirmed its commitment to the Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) with a $130,000 contribution, raised during last night’s benefit concert at the Casino de Montréal’s Cabaret (November 15). By contributing to the success of this second edition, the business community is helping INS Québec pursue and develop their sports medicine, sports science and training services, and sports services and one-on-one support offered to Quebec’s elite and developing athletes and to those that support them.

  • INS Québec upgrades its role as an essential perfomance partner by recruiting three new members to its team

Montreal, October 10, 2017 –The vice-president, Performance services of the Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec), Marc Schryburt, is pleased to announce the addition of three new members to its team, two of which will be in newly created positions. These appointments, including the arrival of the new athlete services advisor, enable the INS Québec to continue its mission of being a “Catalyst of dreams—one athlete at a time” and help position the organization as a key performance partner for high-level sports in Quebec and Canada.

  • Major investment from the Quebec government in the network of INS Québec training centres

Montreal, September 21, 2017 – Quebec high-performance and next-generation athletes will be able to count on increased support from the network of the Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) thanks to a $2 million investment from the Quebec Government. The eight regional multi-sport training centres will share $1.5 million, while a $500,000 envelope will fund the 17 single-sport training centres. It was Mr. Marc Carrière, member of Chapleau and parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Education, Recreation and Sport, Mr. Sébastien Proulx, that confirmed, on behalf of the Minister, the new investments during an event that highlighted the 20th anniversary of the INS Québec.   • Sports nutritionnist Martin Fréchette joins the INS Québec sports-medicine team

Montreal, September 11, 2017 – The Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) is pleased to announce the arrival of Martin Fréchette on its sports-medicine team. A recognized sports nutritionist-dietitian, Martin Fréchette had already collaborated since 2007 with the INS Québec network to ensure nutrition services to many athletes and training groups.   • Boccia becomes 1st paralympic-only sport and 9th high-performance training group to take up residence at INS Québec

Montréal, August 15, 2017 – The Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) enthusiastically welcomes the National Boccia Training Squad as a high-performance training group. This is the first Paralympic-only sport to take up residence at the INS Québec Complex in the Olympic Park. With its own training facility, this new sport will benefit from support by INS Québec’s medical and scientific experts, in addition to daily access to the world-class facilities of the INS Québec Complex. Boccia is the 9th sport to take up residence at the INS Québec Complex, along with fencing, gymnastics, judo, synchronized swimming, swimming, short track speed skating, diving and water polo.   • INS Québec and Université Laval launch a new training program for high-performance coaches

Montreal, June 7, 2017 – The Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) and Université Laval are announcing the launch of a joint microprogram focused on the professional development of high-performance coaches, a unique initiative in Francophone Canada. This graduate-level microprogram in athletic coaching will be available starting in August 2017 and is aimed at people who work with athletes and want to gain skills in various fields dealing with sports intervention.   • RELÈVE ACTIVE / FOOT IN THE DOOR: Montréal Relève and the Institut national du sport du Québec sign a new agreement to support preparation for the post-sports career of high-performance athletes

Montréal, April 12, 2017— The two organizations behind the creation and implementation of the innovative program for high-performance athletes, Relève Active / Foot in the Door, have signed a third agreement to enable two new cohorts to engage in an internship experience to prepare for their post-sports career. Since 2015, nearly twenty athletes have participated in the program and engaged in exploratory internships in a wide range of environments corresponding to their education or their interests. Montréal Relève makes the internships possible through a network of over 1000 partner organizations, representing more than fifteen major economic sectors available in Montréal. Read more.

  • 2017-2018 Québec Government budget: A stimulating investment for the Québec sports community and high-performance sports

Québec City, March 28, 2017 – The Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) welcomes the latest Québec Government budget with interest. The budget provides for increases of $3 million for the development of sports and $50 million for the Sports and Physical Activity Development Fund.
