RBC Training Ground – Capitale-Nationale qualifying event

We were in Quebec City for the third Quebec regional qualification, which took place on April 28 at the Wilbrod Bhérer Training Center. For the occasion, we welcomed 65 young athletes (29 women and 45 men) who pushed themselves and surpassed their physical abilities.

Coming from different sports backgrounds, the athletes display their capacities with four exercises to test their power, speed, strength and endurance. The goal was to uncover athletes with podium potential and provide them with the high-performance sport resources they need to achieve their dreams.

The best female athlete and the best male athlete will take part in the regional finale event, in Montreal July 14, 2018. For the occasion, 14 national sports organizations will be in search of talented young athletes with the potential to bring home an Olympic medal.

We had the honor of having the presence of two Olympians. Marc-Antoine Gagnon, Canadian mogul acrobatic skier and Lewis Irving, Canadian freestyle skier who spent the day encouraging, discussing and sharing their experiences with athletes.

The best performances of the day were accomplish by:

  • Best female: Nicola Martin, Track & Field, 17 years old from La Baie, Québec
  • Best male: Gabriel Roy-Lacouture, Crossfit athlete, 23 years old from Sherbrooke, Québec.

On behalf of Excellence sportive Québec-Lévis and INS Québec, we would like to thank the coaches of various provincial sports associations and the volunteers of RBC for their commitment to support this event.
