INS Québec releases its 2024–2025 annual report

The Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) has published its 2024–2025 annual report—marking a year that will long remain in the organization’s memory. The year was, of course, defined by the intensity of preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, but also shaken by a major incident that deprived the Institute of its facilities for nearly a year. This challenging period highlighted the team’s remarkable ability to face adversity and adapt in order to maintain high-quality support for athletes and training groups.

The momentum of the Paris Games

The report highlights the unwavering commitment of INS Québec’s teams to high-performance athletes, their coaches, and partner sport federations on the road to the Paris Games. Through thousands of hours of sport science services, medical support, and strategic guidance, the Institute played a key role in preparing many of Québec’s top Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls.

“Paris 2024 served as a powerful driver of mobilization for all our staff and partners, despite the unforeseen challenges,” said Marc Desjardins, President and CEO of INS Québec.

An incident that put the organization to the test

The year was nonetheless disrupted by a major incident that caused significant damage to some of the Institute’s infrastructure. This event required a rapid reorganization of several services, temporary relocation of resources, and close collaboration with sport partners to ensure continuity of support for athletes.

In the face of this challenge, INS Québec demonstrated exceptional adaptability, made possible by the dedication of its teams, the solidarity of the Institute’s Complex community and the broader sport network, and the support of its various partners.

An Uncertain Future Despite Successes

Despite all the constraints faced in 2024–2025, the year was marked by significant achievements. Yet, the current financial context and broader challenges facing the sport ecosystem call for an unprecedented level of strategic reflection. Ensuring the sustainability of INS Québec’s mission has never been more critical.

INS Québec is calling for renewed and structured investment to preserve hard-earned gains and maintain Québec’s leadership in high-performance sport. Every year of delay weakens our collective ability to support tomorrow’s performances, which are being built today.
