2026 MILANO CORTINA OLYMPIC GAMES:

INS QUÉBEC PROPELS THE CANADIAN
SHORT TRACK TEAM TO THE WORLD ELITE

The Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) is making a decisive contribution to Team Canada’s preparation for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games thanks to its scientific, medical, and professional expertise. Among these contributions, the strategic partnership with the short track speed skating team plays a central role. INS Québec is proud to highlight its key role with one of the world’s most successful teams.

“As the Olympic Games approach, we are proud to contribute to the preparation of a team that shines a spotlight on Canada. Our extremely close collaboration, the work we do together on a daily basis, and our multidisciplinary support, among other things, make INS Québec an important contributor to their success,“ says Roger Archambault, Vice President of Performance Services.

”INS Québec supports the short track speed skating team in particular in its commitment to innovation. The team is not afraid to experiment, test new training protocols, or explore innovative approaches to data collection and analysis,” adds François Bieuzen, Director of Sports Sciences at INS Québec.

INS Québec’s support is also long-term. Since the opening of the INS Québec Complex in 2014, key athletes such as Kim Boutin have benefited from this support, illustrating the continuity of the partnership between the two organizations.

Of the 206 athletes on Team Canada, 49 have been supported by INS Québec. In addition to short track speed skaters, the Institute has provided various services to athletes in seven other sports: freestyle skiing, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ice hockey, figure skating, long track speed skating, and snowboarding.

Experts at the heart of the action

INS Québec also has experts in Milan and Cortina to support Team Canada : Martin Fréchette and Évelyne Telmosse, sports nutritionists. Other specialists will provide direct support to short track speed skaters: Gabrielle Ostiguy, Chief Medical Officer, Kevin Roux, Physical Trainer, and Antoine Léger, Physiotherapist.

Finally, advisor Geneviève Houle has been selected as a member of the Canadian Olympic Committee mission. This work in the field is beneficial in ensuring that Canadian athletes receive direct follow-up and support throughout the event.

84% of athletes supported by COPSIN

INS Québec is a member of the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN), which includes five institutes and two centers and supports high-performance athletes and coaches across Canada.

The Network provides invaluable support in sports science, sports medicine, and athletic development to 172 of the 206 athletes (84%) on the Canadian team that will compete in the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Games. Of these athletes, 75 have received services from multiple institutes within the Network, illustrating the synergy and collaborative approach.
