Research and Innovation Programs
Research, Innovation, and Information Dissemination Program (PRIDI)
Target
Thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Education (MÉQ), the Research, Innovation, and Information Dissemination Program (PRIDI) aims to support the performance of athletes from the national partner federations of the INS Québec to excel on the international stage.
Eligibility
Only projects likely to contribute to the improvement of high-level athletes’ performance are selected. Eligible projects are evaluated based on their alignment with the mission of the INS Québec and the improvement of high-level athletes’ performance, their justification based on scientific literature, the research team, their timeline, their anticipated benefits relative to costs, information dissemination, and other sources of funding associated with them.
Research, innovation, and/or information dissemination projects are eligible.
These projects can address all areas of performance. For example: performance analysis and monitoring, motor learning, biomechanics, engineering, artificial intelligence, neurosciences, nutrition, sports medicine, physiology, psychology, injury prevention, etc.
Priority Sorting
The INS Québec Connexion group is responsible for the scientific evaluation of projects submitted to PRIDI. This group can also consult specialists to assess the value and interest of the projects it intends to conduct or commission and to prioritize them. The INS Québec Executive Committee then presents its recommendation to the Board of Directors for approval.
Rules
Activity leaders commit to:
- Submit quarterly reports and a final report to the INS Québec (template provided by the Institute) during the activity and at its end, respectively. These reports detail the progress of the work and expenditures.
- Disseminate, particularly to national federations, the conclusions and practical applications of the research or innovation, no later than three months after the work’s completion;
- Seek authorization from the INS Québec before disseminating them on broader platforms.
- Comply with intellectual property and royalty rules imposed by the Institute if applicable.

Synergic Projects
Target
As part of the Synergic Projects component of the Excellence Sports Development Support Program (PSDE) of MÉQ, the INS Québec assists Québec sports federations in developing research and innovation activities, including the use of advanced technologies, to increase the chances of Québec athletes being selected by national federations.
Eligibility
Only projects likely to contribute to the improvement of Québec federations athletes performance are selected.
The INS Québec and a university partner must be involved in each project submission. These projects can address all areas of performance. For example: performance analysis and monitoring, motor learning, biomechanics, engineering, artificial intelligence, neurosciences, nutrition, sports medicine, physiology, psychology, injury prevention, etc.
Synergic Projects are not limited to scientific research work. The INS Québec also supports Québec federations in the use of advanced technologies specific to high-performance sports, the development and application of evaluation tests for performance determinants, the development of innovative training methods, and the monitoring of internal and external training loads. Specialists from Québec sports federations can choose the scientific activities to be conducted with partner organizations like the INS Québec, drawing inspiration from the “Customized Services Disk”.
