Q. How would you describe this last year before being nominated on the Paralympic team?
A. “After my nomination on the Canadian team in 2019 and after my performances during that first year on the international stage, I knew that my dream of going to the Paralympic Games could come true. I had only one year to qualify for the Paralympics so I wanted to give it my all. My teammates and coaches have helped me a lot to become the athlete I am today. I had great support. I was very lucky to learn a lot from my management team.”

Q. What motivates you in training?
A. “My participation to the Paralympic Games is a great source of motivation. I always have the desire to learn more and improve my game.”

Q. How do you see your first experience at the Paralympic Games?
A. “I am going to Tokyo with the desire to make the most of my experience and to give my best. It’s already a great achievement for me to qualify after only one year. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to become a Canadian Paralympian.”

Q. What elements are important to you as an athlete?
A. “Everything I have learned in my career is important to me, but confidence, breathing techniques, sportsmanship and the present moment are the aspects that are most important to me. When I win a game, I feel pride that I love to share with my loved ones and my team. The defeat is still difficult to manage. I make sure to take a moment to collect my senses and my confidence before anything else.”

Q. What do you like about your sport?
A. “I love this sport for its technicality, precision, challenge and concentration that it demands. I also like the exchanges and the bonds we chave with the other athletes and the sport community in general.”

What motivates you the most in life?
A. “What motivates me is surpassing myself and accomplishment. To have found the sport in which I can surpass myself every day and allow myself to live great experiences with a great team is amazing. I am very grateful to my coaches, teammates and parents for their support and dedication.”

Q. Favorite object during a competition?
A. “During a game, I prefer to wear my cap and a glove.”

Q. Do you have any athletes who are a source of inspiration for you? Do you have a favorite quote?
A. “I have a lot of admiration for my boccia teammate Marco Dispaltro and British racing driver Lewis Halmilton. The quote that motivates me is “Never give up”.”
